On this day 8 years ago saw the first full outing of the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) in the Eleventh Hour.

This was the first episode of Series 5. 

This episode also starred Karen Gillan as Amy Pond and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams.

The episode was 1 Hour and 5 Minutes long. It aired on BBC One.

Synopsis:

The newly regenerated Doctor and Amy Pond must save the world in less than 20 minutes from galactic policemen known as the Atraxi.

This episode was the highest rated since Series 1 Premiere "Rose" With 10.08 million viewers tuning in in the UK.
