Doctor Who Series 11: Release Date confirmed!

So after months of Speculation and guessing whether the Series would air in October or September (even though it was originally announced as October) the BBC have finally announced when we will finally see Jodie Whittaker's first episode as The Doctor.

Sunday 7th October. The time is yet to be confirmed.

The first episode is called "The Woman Who Fell To Earth" That fits.. right?

So Doctor Who moves to a Sunday, the first time since the shows return... what is your Opinion on that?

Jodie Whittaker reveals the origins of her Doctor Who costume

Jodie Whittaker has revealed that a striking image she found online was the inspiration for the design of her Doctor Who costume.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con at the weekend, Whittaker explained that a Google search looking for evocative images led her to a black-and-white photo of a woman “walking in purpose, deep in thought” in short trousers, boots, braces, and a t-shirt – a description that chimes strongly with the Thirteenth Doctor’s eventual outfit.

“The costume kind of felt that it could come from anywhere, and it should feel like that,” she said. “I didn’t want something that felt too neat and tailored.

“This picture was black-and-white, so I don’t know what era that picture is from. It felt like such a wonderful expression, in one image, of timelessness, purpose and inclusiveness. All in one simple look.

“It didn’t feel you needed to be a certain shape, or age, or gender, to wear it. And that’s mainly where it came from.”

On Friday night, Whittaker made a surprise appearance at the Her Universe Fashion Show at Comic-Con, and exhibited the outfit in all its glory, much to the delight of the Whovians in attendance.

San Diego Comic-Con marked the beginning of Who season, giving us our first trailer for the new series – and stoking excitement that will be heating up as we approach the “Autumn 2018” airdate.

Doctor Who: Series 11 Trailer Released!

Following the teaser released during the World Cup final. The BBC have finally released a proper trailer ahead of it's supposed air date in October.

Where as the Teaser trailer was more to fit in with the World Cup theme, This trailer has actual clips from the Series and gives us a taste of whats to come. 

The release of the Trailer coincides with the Doctor Who Series 11 Panel at San Diego Comic Con.

BBC goes to court to find out who leaked one of Jodie Whittaker's Doctor Who debut scenes

The BBC is going to court over last week's Doctor Who leak, requesting Californian officials to issue a subpoena – an order to attend court – to mobile internet forum site, Tapatalk.

Footage from Jodie Whittaker's debut scenes as the Doctor found its way online last Monday (June 25), marking series 11's first significant leak ahead of its premiere later this year.

Digital Spy has learned that the BBC is now pursuing legal action over the clip, which is believed to be an unfinished rough-cut, in order to protect the final product for fans. We also understand that this is an open investigation, and the BBC are pursuing all avenues to determine where the leak came from.

In a statement, a spokesperson for BBC Studios told Digital Spy that they are taking "the theft and illegal distribution" of the content "extremely seriously".

"[We] will strive to protect our programme-makers, audiences and licence fee payers from any breaches of security – ensuring Doctor Who fans enjoy the final and fully completed version of the episode when it premieres," the statement read.

Leak or no leak, Doctor Who fans have already caught their first glimpse of Jodie Whittaker as the first female Doctor in Peter Capaldi's final episode 'Twice Upon a Time'.

And former star of the iconic series Carole Ann Ford recently revealed that it was that very introduction to Jodie that convinced her a female Doctor was in fact a good idea.

"Jodie's got a very strong presence," she said, reflecting on her regeneration scene. "I saw the moment she arrived and I've been thinking about it quite a lot.

"I really would like to meet her," she added. "Wouldn't it be fun?! What would I say to her? 'Hello Grandma!'"

Recalling the team's decision to cast Jodie as Thirteen, the series' new showrunner Chris Chibnall said last year that the actress was their "number one choice".

"Jodie is an in-demand, funny, inspiring, super-smart force of nature and will bring loads of wit, strength and warmth to the role. The Thirteenth Doctor is on her way."

So, let's stop those leaks, shall we?

Series 11 of Doctor Who will air on BBC One and BBC America in Autumn 2018.

Doctor Who series 11 composer has been revealed

It's official: the next series of Doctor Who – Jodie Whittaker's first – will be scored by composer Segun Akinola.

Akinola, a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit and graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, will write the music for all 10 episodes of series 11, as well as provide a fresh take on the legendary theme tune.

He replaces Murray Gold, who served as composer for all 10 previous series and various specials since Doctor Who returned to screens in 2005.

"Welcome to the Doctor Who family, Segun Akinola!" said showrunner Chris Chibnall. We're over the moon Segun's agreed to join us, to provide the score for the next phase of the Doctor Who adventure.

"From our very first conversations, it was obvious Segun was a passionate, collaborative and delightful human being as well as a fantastic and bold composer.We'reking forward to introducing the world to his exciting and emotional soundtracks for the Thirteenth Doctor."

Akinola himself said: "Doctor Who is woven into the fabric of British culture and recognised globally. I am absolutely thrilled to be given the privilege of working on such a beloved series and to bring my musical voice to it."

Akinola's previous work includes scoring BBC Two's four-part documentary series Black and British: A Forgotten History, written and presented by historian David Olusoga.

He also scored Shola Amoo's 2016 debut feature film A Moving Image and the same year's short film Dear Mr Shakespeare, for which he received an Honourable Mention for the 2017 BSO Jerry Goldsmith Award for 'Best Original Score for a Short Film'.

Recently, he completed the scores for the major three-part series The Human Body: Secrets of Your Life Revealed and two-part series Expedition Volcano, both for BBC Two and PBS.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One in the autumn, with a trio of companions – Yasmin (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole), and Graham (Bradley Walsh) – joining Whittaker's new Doctor.

Leaked Doctor Who footage shows Jodie Whittaker's first scenes as the Doctor

Leaked footage from the new series of Doctor Who shows Jodie Whittaker's first scenes as the Doctor.

The hit BBC sci-fi show made history by casting Broadchurch star Jodie as the first ever female to play the role.

In the scene, viewed by Mirror Online, Jodie is seen in her first episode after taking over from Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor.

The footage appears to have been leaked by a fan, before being shared online.

After the footage was leaked, fans reacted on Twitter.

One excited fan said: "The # DoctorWho leaked clip has obsessed me with Jodie already."

Another wrote: "Yeah, I watched the leaked # DoctorWho clip. Jodie Whitaker is going to be great, I can tell from just one minute"

While one commented: "I've seen it. I liked it. But still saving judgment for Whittaker's first full episode"

However, others said they didn't want to see the leaked footage.

One wrote: "keep all the 13th doctor leaks the longest way away from me. if you're sharing and spreading whatever leaked , you're not better than the person who decided to record it and ruin everyone's patient waiting"

Another said: "so apparently there was a Doctor Who leak I have no idea what got leaked but let me just say that sharing a leak is not big or clever"

And one said: "It appears some # DoctorWho clips from Series 11 have unfortunately leaked . Steer clear and avoid spoilers if you want to keep the official release special."

It comes after some backlash from fans who were furious to find out that people in the US would see clips from the 11th series of the show before anyone in the UK would.

BBC America has revealed a special Doctor Who panel will be featured at San Diego Comic Con next month, which will feature 13th Doctor Jodie.

The news left UK fans angry.

They've been upset in the past when a trailer for the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, was shown in the US first.

British fans now feel that producers of the show are showing favouritism towards US fans by giving them a first glimpse of the 11th series at Comic Con.

However, it's understood that anything shown at Comic Con in the US is usually broadcast online at the same time, meaning fans in the UK wouldn't be left out.

The casting of Jodie in the iconic role initially divided fans when it was announced with a special clip during the Wimbledon men's final.

One disgruntled fan said: "Imagine one of your favourite shows but with someone of the opposite gender playing your favourite character(s). Hell."

While one commented: "there’s really no f***ing need. The Dr is male. Hate how it’s fashionable to make male characters female. It’s utter s**t."

However, many were pleased with the casting.

One said: "Jodie Whittaker was AMAZING in Broadchurch, she's a fab actor and I can't wait to see what she does with this iconic role! #DoctorWho13"

Another wrote: "this is hugely important for little girls *and* little boys who watch the show. and i couldn't be more excited for them. #DoctorWho13"

The BBC declined to comment on the leaked footage.

British Doctor Who fans fear Americans will get first look at new series

British Doctor Who fans are furious viewers in the US will be shown clips from the new series before they are.

BBC America has revealed a special Doctor Who panel at next month’s San Diego Comic Con featuring many of the new cast, including 13th Doctor Jodie Whittaker.

She will be joined by two of her co-stars, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill, as well as showrunner Chris Chibnall and executive producer Matt Strevens.

But angry UK fans still haven’t got over US fans seeing a trailer for the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, first.

And they now feel producers will favour US devotees yet again by giving them the first glimpse of series 11 at Comic Con.

A fan called Scrotnig said: “Most production is funded by UK taxpayers, in the form of the licence fee.

“What grates on people is their money funds it and the BBC show bits of it to the US first.”

American WhoFanSaif agreed: “I hope the Brits have a similar event. It’s their show, their money goes into making it.”

But a BBC source says that Who fans were getting worked up over nothing.

He says: “They’re making assumptions. They are certain that clips will be shown at Comic Con and be the first chance to see the new series but not all of that is necessarily true.”

Doctor Who to unveil new Jodie Whittaker secrets at San Diego comic-con

Fans waiting to learn more about Jodie Whittaker’s first Doctor Who series should mark their calendars, because it looks like there could be some revelations about the Thirteenth Doctor next month.

Whittaker will be the star of a panel at San Diego Comic-con this July, where her new incarnation of the Doctor will be introduced to the world alongside other characters and behind-the-scenes figures.

Described as “marking a new era for the legendary Time Lord” and “the cast’s first-ever panel appearance,” the session will also feature new series stars Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole alongside showrunner Chris Chibnall, with executive producer Matt Strevens completing the set.

Notably, Tardis team member Bradley Walsh is not present, which may be due to his filming commitments for ITV gameshow The Chase.

The panel will be hosted by Chris Hardwick, and while there’s no word on when exactly it’ll take place it’s sure to fall within SDCC’s 19th-22nd July runtime.

As for what to expect from the event, well it’s hard to say – we’re crossing our fingers for some Doctor Who preview footage, though it could just be some chat from the cast and crew – but whatever happens, it’s another exciting step on the road to the series’ debut later this year.

Doctor Who series 11 to feature characters and monsters from the classic series?

Doctor Who fans are expecting a bold reinvention of the BBC sci-fi series when it returns later this year, but that doesn't mean that some old favourites won't resurface.

AdoroCinema quotes BBC Sales Director David Hanomo as saying that elements from "the classic series" will appear in Jodie Whittaker's first episodes.

"I cannot say much, but I think the audience will be very happy to recognise elements, characters and monsters from the classic series that will be back," he's quoted as saying.

Exciting, right? (Though we'd advise a little caution: Hanomo's quotes are translated from the original Portuguese, so there is the potential for some miscommunication.)

Chris Chibnall – who's replacing Steven Moffat as showrunner for the new series – previously indicated that he wouldn't be playing it safe in the upcoming series 11.

"What the BBC was after was risk and boldness," he said in June 2017.

Can we have risk, boldness and appearances from the Daleks, the Autons and the Wirrn?

There are a few months to go yet before we find out exactly how serious an overhaul Doctor Who is getting, with series 11 expected to launch on BBC One in October.

A trio of companions – Yasmin (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) – will be joining Whittaker's new Doctor for adventures in time and space.

Doctor Who: 13th Doctor to star in short story for updated Doctor Who anthology

The new series of Doctor Who starring Jodie Whittaker is set to arrive with a whole host of extra material and written spin-offs when the series returns later this autumn.

We already knew the Thirteenth Doctor was set to star in her own comic series just like the Doctors before her, it’s now been revealed that she’ll also be immortalised in short story form for updated book series Thirteen Doctors, 13 stories.

This collection of short stories by well-known authors is an update of a project originally completed for Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary in 2013, where writers like Eoin Colfer, Neil Gaiman and Malorie Blackman were tasked with creating adventures for every incarnation of the Doctor from William Hartnell right up to then-Doctor Matt Smith.

A couple of years later, the project was updated with a Twelfth story for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor, and now according to Penguin’s website Doctor Thirteen is also being added to the roster ahead of her debut.

Described as “a new version of this much-loved anthology, with a brand-new story featuring the brand-new Thirteenth Doctor,” the collection will be released on 6th September, though as of yet it’s unclear who will be writing Whittaker’s debut story.

Doctor Who: Series 11 - Lee Mack reveals surprise role

Following the revelation a few weeks ago that Alan Cumming was set to play James I in Doctor Who, another star has now revealed they’re joining the BBC sci-fi series – Would I Lie to You and Not Going Out star Lee Mack.

“Not only am I excited about the idea of someone being in Doctor Who, I am also possibly gonna be in it as well,” Mack said on Radio 4’s Loose Ends, where he was appearing with already-confirmed series 11 star Sharon D Clarke.

“And I wasn’t supposed to say anything, but because [Sharon] said that I thought ‘Well I’m gonna say it then!’ Neither of us should have said it.

“I am blink-and-you’ll-miss-it. It’s just a little thing. I’ve just been a fan all my life, so I just harassed them until they gave me a little part in it.”

And in fact, it sounds like Mack went to quite a lot of effort to argue for his small role, drawing upon his deep-seated love of Doctor Who to convince series showrunner Chris Chibnall.

“I even sent Chris, who runs the show, Chris Chibnall, a video of me getting out of my own Tardis, which I own,” he said. “With a Dalek, which I own as well! And I said ‘Come on!’

“It’s genuinely a true story – I’ve got a Tardis at home, it’s not bigger on the inside. And I said ‘Come on, give me a part.’ And he said ‘Alright!’ So that’s what you need to do if you want a part in something. Just send a video to someone, you’ll get the part.”

Though of course, now he’s let the cat out of the bag it might be a different story…

“Now I’m not gonna get the part because they’re gonna say ‘We told you not to say anything!’” Mack laughed.

“But because Sharon said it I thought I’m allowed to say it.”

Exactly how big a part Mack may have or whether it’s just a brief cameo remains to be seen, but it definitely seems like Chibnall is bringing in a very interesting collection of guest stars to adventure with Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor.

Doctor Who: Series 11 to revisit US civil rights movement

New Doctor Who boss Chris Chibnall is keen to make the show as educational as it is entertaining – just as it set out to be in the 1960s.

With that in mind he has embarked on a mission for the Doctor’s new friends Ryan and Yasmin to be transported back in time to witness historical events that are particularly relevant to their own ethnic backgrounds.

The teens, played by former Hollyoaks stars Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill, have already filmed with Doctor Jodie Whittaker in Cape Town, South Africa which doubled as 1950s America.

In the plot the Time Lord comes face to face with American civil rights activist Rosa Parks, who in 1955 famously refused to give up her seat on the bus for a white passenger, sparking the beginning of the end for segregation.

Thanks to the TARDIS, the time travellers will witness Alabama bus driver James F Blake telling Rosa to give up her seat, and her brave refusal.

And that’s not all.

The production is now heading off to India, where the gang will find out more about the country’s past and perhaps Yasmin’s own family heritage.

One source said: “The Doctor has all of space and time to explore so it’ll be fascinating to see the gang from 2018 having a good rummage around in big, important events which have changed the course of history.”

When it launched in 1963, Doctor Who was intended by creator Sydney Newman to be an educational series for children.

During the William Hartnell years, viewers learned about Marco Polo, the Aztecs, the crusades, the French Revolution and the Romans, but the practice ended in Patrick Troughton’s era.

Previous foreign filming locations on Doctor Who included Paris, Amsterdam and Lanzarote for the original series.

Since the reboot the various Doctors have visited New York, Rome, Dubai and Fuerteventura while Paul McGann’s TV movie was shot in and around Vancouver.

The next series of 10 episodes, which hits BBC1 in the autumn, will see three stories set in the future, three in the past, and the rest in the present day.

Doctor Who: Series 11 - Alan Cumming To Play King James I

Jodie Whittaker's first series of Doctor Who will apparently bring her TARDIS companions face-to-face with proper legend Alan Cumming.

The X-Men and Good Wife star let slip on the latest edition of Will Young and Chris Sweeney's podcast Homo Sapiens that he'll soon start filming a guest appearance as the Scottish monarch King James I.

"I'm about to go and do an episode of Doctor Who," he revealed. "I'm so excited! I've never been in it."

Alan even indicated that King James I could become a recurring figure in the 11th series of Doctor Who when Will and Chris questioned him on if he's going to be "a baddie".

"Like a nice baddie. I'm like a sort of dandy, foppy character who becomes alright in the end," he revealed. "They said he might come back."

Digital Spy has reached out to the BBC for more information about Alan Cumming's guest appearance in Doctor Who.

Cumming joins a long list of acclaimed actors who've played historical figures in Doctor Who — Ian McNeice as Winston Churchill, Pauline Collins as Queen Victoria and Tony Curran as Vincent van Gogh, among them.

On-set photos leaking over the past few weeks have tipped a number of historical adventures for the Thirteenth Doctor and her compatriots in the upcoming 11th series.

Early indications are that one episode will see The Doctor travelling far into the past, while another adventure could feature civil rights activist Rosa Parks in some way.

Doctor Who: Series 11 What We Know So Far - Part 2

Yes So we have been receiving more news about Series 11 and filming has been continuing across the UK.

So on Tuesday the new logo and the month that Doctor Who will return was announced.

The Series will begin in October 2018. An official date is yet to be announced.

The logo design is as follows:

A Shorter Version can be seen at the top of this post.

Here is the animation, it is no known if this will be part of the opening sequence when Episode 1 airs.

The cast have been filming in Sheffield, which I posted about previously. They have been filming around Cardiff 

and they are currently filming around Gosport, Hampshire

The first episode of the series will be one hour long.

We also have a few more changes.

We have a new Special effects team, Double Negative they have worked on Incepetion and Blade Runner 2049 to name but a few. This means we says goodbye to Milk VFX who have worked of the show since The Day Of The Doctor.

Murray Gold who has been composing for Doctor Who since it returned in 2005 has left and from Series 11 will not be composing any more music.. Who will take over from him is yet to be seen.

Doctor Who: Series 11 Logo Revealed

So the new logo for Series 11 is here!!!

The big reveal came at the  BBC Worldwide Showcase event in Liverpool which both Executive Producer Chris  and Jodie Whitaker both attended.

So we have the Official logo on a poster, a shortened version of the logo and a video.

So here we go!

Doctor Who Series 11: Filming Updates

So the TARDIS has landed and filming has picked up in Sheffield once again.

This time they have been filming in Park Hill

Doctor Who Series 11: What We Know So Far - Part 1

Hey guys! So i'm going to go through everything we know about Series 11 So Far.

So we have a few major changes for this upcoming Series.

First of which was the announcement of Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi leaving following the 2017 Christmas Special. 

It was announced that Chris Chibnall, best known currently for creating 3 series of Broadchurch.

Naturally, as Peter Capaldi announced he was leaving Doctor Who, a replacement needed to be found.

On the 16th July 2017, Jodie Whittaker was announced as the 13th incarnation of The Doctor. She has prviously starred in St Trinian's films, Broadchurch and BBC's 2017 drama Trust Me.

It was also announced that Pearl Mackie would not be returning in Series 11 as Bill Potts, so a new companion(s) had to be found.

On the 22nd october 2017, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole were cast as Graham, Yasmin and Ryan.

Filming for Series 11 began in November 2017 and the 13th Doctor's outfit was announced at the same time.

So new outfit and a new look for the TARDIS also, gone is the deep blue of the exterior and the pull to Open sign is now dark with white writing. 

The interior however remains to be seen. On New Years Eve 2017, Doctor Who's Official twitter page and YouTube posted a video of the deconstruction of the current TARDIS interior, this is the first major change to the TARDIS interior since Series 7 part 2. So we shall have to wait and see.

It has also been announced that we are only getting 10 episodes this year and they will all be 50 minutes long.

Now if you haven't seen the Christmas special please stop reading now!

Now we know when The Doctor regenerated at the end of the Christmas Special "Twice Upon a Time" The TARDIS was blowing up and sparks flying everywhere and then The Doctor was booted out of the TARDIS in the middle of space and can be seen slowly falling to earth.

So, following this we know that The Doctor will start the Series TARDIS-less.

Filming has been taking place in Sheffield, Newport (Wales) and Cape Town South Africa so far.

Doctor Who Series 11 is due to air in the Autumn, although and August start is being rumoured, so maybe late summer then?

No titles or writers have been announced so far, but i'm sure we will find out soon.
