Peter Capaldi is The Doctor! - Series 8! First Look!

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

The first image of Peter Capaldi filming series eight of Doctor Who has been unveiled.

The photo shows Capaldi as the new Doctor, still wearing the clothes sported by his predecessor Matt Smith, alongside his co-star Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald).

"New job, first day, slightly nervous," Capaldi said.

"Just like the Doctor, I'm emerging from the TARDIS into a whole other world."

Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat added: "First the eyebrows! Then, at Christmas, the face!

"Coming soon, the whole Doctor. In the Cardiff studios, the Capaldi era begins."

Moffat has written the first episode of the series and Phil Ford the second. Both are directed by Sightseers filmmaker Ben Wheatley.

Arrow showrunner: 'We're not competing with Agents of SHIELD'

Saturday, January 4, 2014

Arrow showrunner Andrew Kreisberg has said that his programme is not in competition with Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.

Kreisberg told TV Line that he feels no pressure for his DC Universe show to outperform Marvel's new television drama.

"We don't really feel like we're in competition with anybody else. We're only trying to outdo ourselves as we move forward," Kreisberg insisted.

The writer went on to say that he is encouraged to see so many comic books being adapted for television these days.

"I think all of us here - not just as writers but as viewers - are thrilled that we're in what feels like a golden age of comic book adaptations in both film and television," he said.

Kreisberg continued: "We're excited to be part of this real shift in the TV landscape that includes SHIELD and hopefully for next season Gotham and Constantine, and even the Daredevil show, which I'm really excited about.

"We really feel like a rising tide lifts all ships, so the more comic book adaptations the better!"

Arrow returns on January 15 on The CW in the US. Sky1 airs the programme in the UK.
